Behavioral Grooves – How we make decisions and how those decisions go wrong

Dr. David Redish is a Distinguished McKnight Professor and Chair of Neuroscience at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Redish is a leader in the new movement of computational psychiatry which builds on an understanding of how systems producing behavior run into trouble and produce disorders to redefine psychiatric paradigms. He is the author of over a hundred papers and two books.

– Humans are not unitary decision-makers – we actually have multiple decision-making systems that allow us to make decisions.
– A lot of human success is about using the right decision-making system in the right situations.
– We know the neurophysiology of how those decisions work. From that, we know how they can break down.
