Bridging the Gap Between Behavioral Science and Policy | BSPA

What happens when years of behavioral science research leave the labs and meet the people actually making decisions in government, business, and public policy? In this special Friday episode, we explore the origins, evolution, and the future of the Behavioral Science & Policy Association (BSPA), an organization that helps to bridge the gap between academic theory and real-world application.

We sit down with BSPA’s founders, Sim Sitkin and Craig Fox, and hear their reasoning for creating the organization, what they’ve learned from bringing researchers and practitioners into the same room, and what has changed in the field of behavioral science since BSPA launched in 2013. In the past 13 years, there have been profound changes in world policy, politics, and technology, and with the recent AI boom, how should behavioral scientists think about humanities relationship with new technology?

Finally, we look toward the future and welcome the incoming leader of BSPA, Crystal Hall, into our conversation to discuss where the organization goes next. Crystal shares her vision for the future – bringing more practitioners into the conversation, responding to real world problems as they pop up, and expanding BSPA’s reach beyond the US to make behavioral science accessible to the people who meed it most.
